The game

Metaflora is a daily biology puzzle about the plant kingdom. Find the Mystery Plant by making guesses and exploring how plants are related.

Each guess reveals shared ancestry with the answer. The branching tree helps you narrow the search from broad groups toward a particular species, using relationships rather than physical distance or appearance.

The game uses the NCBI taxonomy. Classifications can differ between sources and change as scientific understanding develops. The FAQ explains the game's species selection and some common classification questions.
